The books and manuscripts described belonged partly to Robert Riddell, Esq., Sheriff Substitute of Co. Haddington, and partly to John Riddell and were bequeathed by the former to the Faculty of Advocate for purchase by Lord Lindsay and bequeathed by him to the Advocates Library. The books etc described are of legal, genealogical, and historical interest mostly relating to Scotland.
